1987: Finally intelligent software for industrial automation

COPA-DATA GmbH was founded in 1987 by Thomas Punzenberger. With one goal: To develop the software for industry automation. Not just a software, but rather, one which actually makes life easier for the user and makes companies more productive.

At the beginning, there was inspiration and patience, lots of patience. That was also important: Because good software that doesn't mature with the user but rather works from the very beginning needs time. Together with his brother Alexander Punzenberger, the young entrepreneurs took four years for careful development and testing. And then in 1991 it was time:  

zenon 1.0 was released - and has been the leading innovation HMI and SCADA software since then.

Even the first zenon version proved that carefully coded software can set standards from the very beginning. For example, parameterization instead of programming was firmly established as a central product characteristic. Whoever already uses zenon knows which advantages this brings with it. Now everybody has the opportunity to find this out ;-)

Today, zenon is arguably the only HMI/SCADA package with which a complete SCADA application can be created without having to write a single line of code. zenon - Innovative by tradition.
