20 years of COPA-DATA. 20 years of HMI/SCADA, independent of platforms. 20 years of visualization according to user requirements instead of machine specifications. Customers and partners from all over the world got together for our birthday celebration in Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg on June 15. Special guest: zenon, which was presented in version 6.21 and a completely new outfit.
Summer 2007: zenon is completely reworked - it not only looks good but has brilliant efficiency. A development story that started one year earlier… While the first of the summer heat arose outside in spring 2006, zenon was sweating it out in a rigorous Usability Lab. Under professional surveillance, customers, experienced users and newcomers tested the HMI/SCADA system for easy handling. The pressure paid off. Version 6.21 offers the usability of an Office application - with drag & drop and context menus, and the choice of structured and intuitive configuration.
COPA-DATA turns 20! On June 15th, we celebrate our 20th anniversary in Schloss Leopoldskron. Unpack our birthday presents with us: For example: zenon 6.21´s new user interface that is adjusted by our customers to their wishes from the Usability Lab, or the integration of zenon in ePlan opening up new perspectives for mechatronics. Even in times of USB and Wireless Networking, the reliable serial interface is far from obsolete. Barcode scanners, printers, fire detectors, alarm systems, modems and display systems – to name only a few – often still rely on this established technology. But how can you visualize the data from these devices with zenon in a fast, simple and economic way?
E + z = M2 – unprecedented zenon and Eplan integration advances engineering beyond engineering disciplines. A powerful new SCADA and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software integration concept will be presented at the Hannover Fair. Seamless integration with the new zenon 6.21 SCADA/HMI software enables Eplan users to automatically engineer the control and visualisation parts of the system without specialist knowledge, and improve operation over the product lifecycle. The zenon SCADA/HMI software and Eplan integrate at two points, the Eplan platform and the Eplan engineering center. During the design process, the engineer can directly access zenon from the Eplan platform. Similarly, the Eplan viewer or indeed the full Eplan suite can be accessed directly from zenon during runtime to track alarms and debug systems. This powerful exchange of data between the two systems improves workflow from design to maintenance and makes automatic engineering possible.
Independent automation software provider COPA DATA has been awarded a Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation, having demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies through their zenon SCADA/HMI software. The award recognizes the Company’s commitment to the continuous development that ensures the innovation, usability and openness of their product.
PROFINET IO RT Controller for straton available. The straton IEC 61131-3 standard Soft PLC now supports the Profinet standard for real time communications over Ethernet hardware. An advantage of Profinet is that it uses standard CAT5 cables and connectors, compared to the expensive connectors and termination required by Profibus. Using the Soft PLC straton from COPA-DATA, control engineers can reduce system costs further by replacing dedicated fieldbus hardware with a “soft” Profinet server, without any loss of performance.
Even the smallest project requires documentation, whether it is simply a book explaining the symbols in the HMI/SCADA project (inputs and outputs, colour coding, etc) or a full, picture by picture definition of all symbols and variables. It can take system integrators weeks to document a typical HMI/SCADA system. This represents significant engineering cost and short cuts can result in a lack of proper documentation which leads to future problems. The solution: Automatic Engineering with zenon.
The new NETLink PRO Ethernet gateway increases connectivity between zenon and the Simatic S7-300/400 series. It can be easily connected to the MPI port or Profibus for use with either the HMI/SCADA zenon® monitoring system or for programming with Step 7®.
