Data Recording

zenon completely records all alarms. In order to make them visible, all current alarms are saved in a freely configurable ring buffer. There you can find all pending alarms which:

  • are unaknowledged
  • are not cleared
  • have not been hand-deleted (for those alarms with an obligation to be deleted)

The ring buffer can be configured as First-in/First-out (FIFO) or as Last-in/First-out (LIFO). When the buffer is full there is the possibility that no new alarms are carried into the display. Although these are not displayed, they are saved.

Historical alarms are usually saved by default; with Windows CE this is optional. This storage can also be deactivated. Alarms are first saved in binary files (one per day).

The advantages:

  • easy comparison during redundant operation of project
  • easy to administer
  • high performance
  • saved data cannot be changed (requirement from FDA CFR21 Part 11)

Of course all data can be exported into other file formats.
