Message Control
Knowing what is going on - reacting quickly
![]() |
Alarm messages and system information must quickly reach operators, service or on-call personnel. Even at unoccupied stations it is important that these messages are timely realized. During the Runtime Message Control channels any messages in a multifaceted form to the operators. Because the forwarded messages cannot only be assigned to individuals, but also to whole groups, the message is sure to reach the responsible employee.
Message Control
- sends messages to various recipients or defined substitute-recipients, and also to potential defined shift personnel.
- notifies individuals as well as groups.
- allows a person to belong to multiple groups.
- manages recipients in a database (*.mdb).
- uses a number of message types: SMS, pager, fax, eMail, speech and text
Support of grouping and shift plans
Message Control allows the logical grouping as well as the creation of shift schedules. This makes a configuration of the message transmission possible which is perfectly adapted to the production conditions. For confirmation to the system, the messages can include an acknowledgment requirement. The sending of messages is realized through a zenon function:
- manually
- automatically as a result of a threshold value violation or an alarm
- time controlled
Integration in zenon
Engineering the Message Control is done in the zenon Editor. The recipient administration (phone numbers, E-Mail addresses, etc.) can also be edited during the Runtime. Just like with all data that is alterable in the Runtime, these changes can also be restored in the Editor.
All status information like e.g. successful sending of messages, positive acknowledgement, triggered following actions are consistently and tracably recorded in the CEL (Chronologic Event List). Additionally Message Control has immediate 100% redundancy ability without additional engineering effort.
Message Control currently supports
- GSM/SMS
- GSM/Paging services
- Voice messages via telephone
- Audio files
- Text to Speech*
*Text to Speech means that text messages are automatically output as read voice messages over the phone. For this you need so-called text to speech engines, integrated in Windows XP as a default; otherwise you have to install it.
