Clarks trusts in zenon (UK)
Because of the increased order and distribution volume the new Clarks distribution center in Somerset UK has been built, a building of gigantic dimensions.
When Cyrus Clarks established a small sheepskin shop in the year 1825, nobody thought, that this would be the foundation stone for one of the most successful companies in Great Britain. Today Clarks produces 41 million pairs of shoes per year, has 13,000 employees and with a turnover of 1.4 billion Euros is one of the big ones in this business sector.
The 188 m long, 152 m wide (this is the area of six soccer fields) and up to 18.5 m high building offers enough room for the entire population of south-west England. The storage has a capacity of 6 million pairs of shoes and is designed for a daily throughput of 200,000 pairs.
In order to run such a center successfully you need a strong partner, which Clarks found in the company Knapp from Graz/Austria. 50 years of experience in the field of logistics and the know-how from more than 700 projects in different business sectors make Knapp one of the leading companies in world market. Beside the mechanics and electronics the visualization is a core component of each system. Here Knapp relies on the i-Point.
