COPA-DATA continues to grow in 2020

The COPA-DATA closes 2020, a year of global crisis, with a six percent increase in turnover thanks to the continued global thirst for digitalization.

With its zenon software platform, COPA-DATA empowers manufacturers, energy suppliers and infrastructure operators to monitor and control their facilities with great ease and transparency. zenon integrates machines, plant components and control systems from a wide range of manufacturers to enable companies to operate plants efficiently and flexibly and to build in crisis-proof resilience.

Stable business development in a year of crisis

Despite very different economic developments in the company’s four core-focus industries – pharmaceuticals, energy, automotive and food and beverage – COPA-DATA achieved solid growth of six percent and increased annual group sales from €51 million in 2019 to €54 million in 2020.

Team expansion and new offices

In 2020, COPA-DATA welcomed more than 20 new colleagues to its Salzburg headquarters and its subsidiaries. The company now employs more than 300 people worldwide. To support this continued growth, in October COPA-DATA laid the foundations for a new office building in Salzburg close to the existing headquarters building. Completion is scheduled for spring 2022. A total of ten million euros will be invested in the low-energy building. It will accommodate a further 120 people in state-of-the-art office facilities. COPA-DATA established a subsidiary in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh, in the fall of 2020. This was a logical step forward in order to better serve the demand for zenon regionally in the Middle East and to ensure improved delivery of local support.

New services for improved quality of support

Although COPA-DATA Group staff have been working from home for most of the time since mid-March 2020, zenon users continued to access the support they needed using the accustomed channels and at the same excellent quality. During 2020, COPA-DATA responded to the pandemic-induced contact restrictions by offering a wide range of webinars and digital events. Moving forward, this approach will be further extended and supplemented with hybrid training sessions so customers can choose to participate on-site or virtually.

Further growth expected

Through 2021, COPA-DATA intends to continue its growth course. An important step in this direction is planned for the end of April with the announcement of the latest major release zenon 10. It offers customers an integrated overall solution, so they can use the software platform to implement the Industrial IoT in manufacturing and in the energy industry.
