Since late 2025, ZETA – a leading automation and digitalization partner for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries – has been a certified global technology partner of the software manufacturer COPA‑DATA. The two Austrian family-owned companies complement each other in the fields of industrial automation and process engineering, and both operate internationally. Following the official launch, the cooperation is now successfully underway, with a clear focus on the pharmaceutical sector.
In March, the “ZETA Symposium” took place in Seggau, Austria, bringing together renowned industry experts and customers. During a dedicated workshop, the international audience experienced the technology partnership between ZETA and COPA‑DATA for the first time: the interaction between INOSIM, ZETA’s production simulation software, and COPA‑DATA’s zenon software platform was demonstrated live. The result for pharmaceutical companies is seamless data and system integration – delivering greater transparency, efficiency, and controllability across their production processes.
In March, the technology partnership between ZETA and COPA‑DATA was presented for the first time at the ZETA Symposium.
“The highly regulated life sciences sector is facing increasing challenges. Today, it must produce even more flexibly, efficiently, and rapidly than in the past,” emphasizes Stefan Reuther, Member of the Executive Board at COPA‑DATA. “That’s why we are particularly pleased about our partnership with ZETA — together, we can offer customers a reliable, end‑to‑end solution.” This holistic approach connects operational technology and information technology in an intelligent and future‑oriented way.
“With COPA‑DATA, we have a strong software‑platform partner at our side, one that provides our customers with greater flexibility, transparency, and vendor‑independent system integration. We are also united by our clear focus on cutting‑edge technologies,” says Gerald Dollberger, Business Line Director Automation at ZETA. One example is software‑defined automation: with this revolutionary approach, flexible and scalable software takes over tasks traditionally handled by hardware‑based controllers. This allows programming and central monitoring of industrial processes to be adapted quickly and independently to changing requirements.
The event took place at Seggau Castle in Styria, Austria.
Additional opportunities arise from Module Type Package (MTP), a vendor‑independent interface standard in which both ZETA and COPA‑DATA have extensive expertise. “MTP has become a key success factor for modern pharmaceutical production,” says Reuther. ZETA enhances Module Type Package with deep process understanding and engineering know‑how — as both a plant manufacturer and an automation specialist. Beyond this, the two technology companies are also collaborating in the areas of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS).
